Terms
Sediment is a free, non-commercial site for ideas, run by Kritt Tech in Texas, USA. By making an account or using the site, you agree to these terms and to the way we handle your information, as explained on the privacy page. If you don't agree, please don't use Sediment.
Who can join
You need to be 18 or over to make an account. A child can only use an account that a parent has set up for them in Settings, Family, and the parent is responsible for it. Please stick to one account each. Keep your password and sign-ins to yourself, too, since you're responsible for anything that's done with your account.
What you post
What you post is still yours. When you post something, you're letting us store it, show it to the people you share it with, and make the copies we need to run the site, such as thumbnails and backups. If you share an idea with everyone and rate it for all ages, anyone can see it, even people who aren't logged in, and people on Sediment can add to it and run with it in the ways the site allows. Please only post things you have the right to share. When you delete your account, what you posted goes with it, as the privacy page describes.
If you post something AI wrote for you, please say so. When it comes from Sediment's AI help, we mark it for you. AI can get things wrong, so check what it tells you before you rely on it. Your AI provider's own terms apply to whatever you send it.
The rules
Please don't post, send or link to any of these:
- Anything sexual involving a child, or anything that tries to groom a child. We take it down, report it to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children, and suspend the account.
- Photos, videos or recordings of real people, whether they're genuine or faked. A voice in a song or voice note you made is fine, though.
- Any sexual or erotic content or nudity, including drawings and anything made by AI.
- Bullying, harassment, threats or hate against anyone.
- Anything encouraging self-harm or suicide.
- Someone else's private details, like their address or phone number.
- Spam, scams, malware, or pretending to be someone else.
- Anything illegal, or someone else's work that you don't have permission to share.
Please give what you post an honest age rating. And please don't try to get into accounts that aren't yours, get round the site's limits or its age rules, copy the site wholesale, or overload or break it.
Moderation
If you have an account, you can report a post with the Report button on it, and anyone at all can email kith@sediment.foo. Whoever posted it is never told who reported it. Our moderators can take down posts and suspend accounts that break these terms. If that happens to you, we'll write to your confirmed email address to tell you why, unless it involves child sexual abuse or was an addition you'd already deleted. We can also close an account that breaks these terms. If you think we got it wrong, email kith@sediment.foo and we'll look at it again. The contact page explains how to ask for something to come down, whether or not you have an account.
Copyright
If you think something on Sediment uses your work without permission, send a notice to our copyright agent (named below). Your notice needs to include:
- what's yours
- where it is on Sediment
- your contact details
- a statement that you believe in good faith that this use of your work isn't allowed
- a statement, under penalty of perjury, that your notice is accurate and that you own the work or are acting for the owner
- your name, as a signature
Our copyright agent is [needed before launch for the DMCA safe harbor: register one designated agent for Kritt Tech at dmca.copyright.gov ($6, renewed every 3 years), listing Sediment and sediment.foo as alternate names, which covers every instance under sediment.foo, then put their name, postal address, phone and email here, the same as in the designation (written out, such as hello@sediment.foo, the same on every instance)]. We close accounts that keep posting other people's work.
No guarantees
Sediment is a free project, and we offer it as it is, without any warranty. It might change, go down, lose things or stop altogether, so please keep your own copies of anything that matters to you. You can download what you've posted from Settings, Your data. As far as the law allows, Kritt Tech isn't liable for any loss that comes from using Sediment, or for what other people post on it.
Leaving, and changes
You can delete your account whenever you like in Settings, Your data, except while it's being kept for a reason given on the privacy page. If it's a child's account, their parent deletes it from Settings, Family. If you're a child's only parent, you'll need to delete their account, or add another parent, before you delete your own. We can also close an account ourselves if it breaks these terms. If we change these terms in a way that matters, we'll tell everyone with an account before the change takes effect. The laws of Texas and the United States apply to these terms.
